EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern sophomore Amy Letourneau (Laguna Niguel, Calif./Santa Margarita Catholic) has been named the Big Ten Player of the Week following her performance in NU's series victory over Minnesota last weekend at Sharon J. Drysdale Field.
Letourneau batted .750 (6-for-8) on the weekend with a 1.500 slugging percentage and an .818 on-base percentage, driving in six and slugging a pair of home runs. She also went 2-0 in the circle with her first-career no-hitter in Friday's contest.
Letourneau began the series with the 45th no-hitter in Northwestern history, fanning 11 in a 6-2 win despite allowing 11 base runners. She also was 2-for-4 at the plate. On Saturday, the sophomore went 3-for-3 with four RBIs, a home run and a walk. She came back on Sunday to toss another complete-game victory in a 4-2 NU win, clubbing a two-run homer in the first inning and walking twice thereafter.
The honor is the first of Letourneau's career.
