EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern's slow start from the field helped No. 19/17 Wisconsin get off to a quick start and leave Welsh-Ryan Arena with a 69-41 Big Ten triumph Wednesday night.

Wisconsin BTN Game Recap

The Wildcats (13-14, 4-10 Big Ten) shot close to 40 percent from the field in the second half, but they could not overcome a 16-point halftime deficit. NU connected for only four first-half field goals.

The Badgers (19-8, 10-4 Big Ten) got off to a spotless 9-0 start as the 'Cats failed to convert on their first six shot attempts of the game before senior Reggie Hearn buried a three-pointer to finally get his team on the scoreboard.

Northwestern steadily chipped away at its deficit, coming to within six points a few possessions later when Alex Marcotullio notched his first triple of the contest. Unfortunately, they would come no closer the rest of the evening.

Hearn poured in a game-high 13 points for Northwestern, while guards Dave Sobolewski and Tre Demps each tallied eight points for the Wildcats. Sobolewski also added a team-best five rebounds and five assists in the game.

Ben Brust and Jared Berggren paced the Badgers in victory with 12 points and eight rebounds apiece.

The Wildcats will be back on the road Sunday evening in a tilt against the Purdue Boilermakers in West Lafayette, Ind. Tip-off from Mackey Arena is set for 5 p.m. CT with the contest televised live on the Big Ten Network.
