EVANSTON, Ill. -- Twenty years ago a group of female Northwestern football fanatics founded the CatBackers with goal of getting a better grasp on the Xs and Os of the game, as well as an appreciation of what the various coaches try to accomplish with their specific units.
The group has grown to include men, as well, and multiple events are held during the year. Coaches and selected players are present for all events as well as celebrity emcees.
This year the kick-off luncheon, featuring NU head coach Pat Fitzgerald and his wife, Stacy, will be held September 6 at the Stadium Club at Ryan Field. The luncheon begins at 11:30 with a meet and greet, then moves on to lunch and an inside look at the different ways the coach and his wife approach the season.
