Shurna and Thompson Open Play at NBA Summer League

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern is represented by a pair of recent graduates at this year's NBA Summer League set to tip off Friday in Las Vegas.
John Shurna, who recently completed his collegiate career as NU's all-time leader in scoring, blocked shots and games played is competing for the Atlanta Hawks. Meanwhile, Michael Thompson, a 2011 graduate who ranks first in Northwestern history in assists, is a member of the New Orleans Hornets contingent.
The contests are being played from July 13-22 at the Thomas & Mack Center and the COX Pavilion on the UNLV campus.
Shurna's Hawks team participates in the opening game of the league as it takes on the Washington Wizards at 3 p.m. Central time on Friday. Thompson and the Hornets face off against Portland in their first game at 9:30 p.m. Central on Sunday.
All 60 of the Summer League games are being televised by NBA TV, including 39 contests live. A complete schedule for both Atlanta and New Orleans follows below.

Sunday, July 15 - vs. San Antonio, 7 p.m. (airs 7/16 at 11 a.m.)
