EVANSTON, Ill. -- Ten Northwestern football student-athletes will eagerly await the phone call from the National Football League during the 77th NFL Draft which begins tonight and takes place throughout the weekend.
The NFL Draft will be held in the Radio City Music Hall in New York, N.Y. The first round will begin Thursday (7 p.m. CT on ESPN), the second and third rounds will be on Friday (6 p.m. CT on ESPN), and the draft will wrap-up the fourth through seventh rounds on Saturday (11 a.m. CT on ESPN).
NU players who have been working out for the NFL scouts over the past few months include quarterback Dan Persa, receivers Jeremy Ebert and Charles Brown, superback Drake Dunsmore, offensive lineman Al Netter, defensive linemen Jack DiNardo and Vince Browne, and defensive backs Jordan Mabin, David Arnold and Brian Peters.
These 10 Wildcats helped lead the team to four consecutive bowl game appearances and have contributed to 21 wins over the past three years.
Last year, Northwestern had two players signed on as free agents to rival NFC North clubs. Defensive lineman Corbin Bryant signed with the Chicago Bears while linebacker Quentin Davie signed with the Detroit Lions.
Northwestern has sent numerous players to the NFL over the years, including three players in six different years -- 1997, 1999, 2002, 2005, 2006, and 2010.
