Spring Break 2012 Takes Northwestern to Sunny Florida

Northwestern's Spring Break Game Notes Package 
EVANSTON, Ill. -- Spring Break 2012 takes Northwestern to sunny Florida for a spate of games in the Tampa and Clearwater areas, beginning March 16-18 with the USF Invite hosted by South Florida. The trip will be the Wildcats' first to the state of Florida since the 2005 Florida Atlantic Worth Invitational.
NU begins the tournament at 10:45 a.m. CT (11:45 a.m. ET) Friday against Fairfield before taking on host No. 24 South Florida at 3:30 p.m. CT (4:30 p.m. ET). Both of those games will take place at USF's campus softball stadium in Tampa.
On Saturday, Northwestern plays No. 21 Florida State at 10:15 a.m. CT (11:15 a.m. ET) and Chattanooga at 3 p.m. CT (4 p.m. ET). The final tournament game features NU against LIU Brooklyn on Sunday at 10:15 a.m. CT (11:15 a.m. ET). All three of those games will be played at the EC Moore Softball Complex in Clearwater.
Following a day off in Florida, Northwestern will play two more Spring Break-ing teams Tuesday, March 20, when it faces Massachusetts and Hartford in a doubleheader at the EC Moore Complex.
Northwestern is coming off a bye week for winter quarter finals after opening the year with a four-weekend sprint that took the Wildcats to Arizona, Louisiana and California--twice. Though the Wildcats enter this weekend with a 7-11 record, 10 of those 18 games came against teams ranked in one of the two top-25 polls at the time of the contest, and NU already has ranked wins over then-No. 11 Missouri and then-No. 17 Texas A&M.
NU will be gone from Evanston for 10 days during this trip, capping it with the Wildcats' first-ever visit to Nebraska for Big Ten play. That three-game series will commence with a single game at 5 p.m. CT Friday, March 23 before a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. CT Saturday.
