Wildcats Announce 2012 Spring Schedule

EVANSTON, Ill. – First-year head coach Michael Moynihan announced Northwestern's 2012 spring schedule today. The 'Cats will play five games from late March through early May, including three home games at Lakeside Field.
The spring season begins with back-to-back home games against teams from the 2011 schedule. The five-game slate opens Saturday, March 31 against Marquette at 6 p.m. and then Loyola makes the short trek to Evanston for a 4 p.m. match on Sunday, April 15. Northwestern took Marquette, an NCAA tournament team, to overtime in the first game of the 2011 season and shut out Loyola 3-0.
NU's two road games take them to Illinois State Saturday, April 21 (1 p.m.) and Valparaiso Saturday, April 28 (1 p.m.) Northwestern then hosts one final home game at 6 p.m., Friday, May 4 against another Big East opponent, DePaul.
With a new head coach on the sidelines, Northwestern returns nine starters from last year's squad, including its leading goal scorer the past two seasons, Kate Allen (Whitehouse, Ohio/Anthony Wayne). Also returning to the squad are six freshmen who were key contributors, playing significant minutes during the 2011 campaign.
Admission is FREE for the spring exhibitions at Lakeside Field. A complete schedule is below:
