Northwestern vs. UIC

Northwestern Head Coach Bill Carmody
Opening Statement:
"Just looking at the stats here, we had 16 turnovers, and that's too many for a team that's picking you up to the top of your game and where there was no real pressure. Also there were 16 possessions without a shot. The foul shooting, in Texas we were 14-15 or 17-18 in one game and 23-27 in another, and the last couple of games we haven't been even close, with bad foul shooting we haven't had a chance. We need to bust out of that because 10-20, that's 10 points. UIC played well. We knew it would be one of those grind-it-out kind of games, that it'd come down to it."
On the bench:
"We didn't get much production from the bench today. I tried to play Kale [Abrahamson] a little more today, might give him some points. It's been hard for Alex Marcotullio since his back has been bothering him. I think now we can get Sanjay [Lumpkin] in a little bit more. But we didn't get the production that I expected from our bench."
On what positives he might take from this game:
"Not many, but we need to keep working, stay positive for some of these young guys. We definitely need an injection into our offense, maybe from Kale [Abrahmson]. When they're smothering these guys [Drew Crawford and Dave Sobolewski], we need someone else out there. They're both competitors and they both feel like it's on their shoulders, which I like, but we need to give them some help. Maybe Kale or Sanjay [Lumpkin], and continue to work the two centers too."
