EVANSTON, Ill. -- As it looks to extend a current four-match winning streak against the Indiana Hoosiers, the Northwestern volleyball team returns to Welsh-Ryan Arena on Saturday, Oct. 1 to face that very squad at 7 p.m. CT.

The 'Cats came firing out of the gate in their last match on Wednesday against No. 12 Purdue. Northwestern, behind a bevy of kills from freshman Yewande Akanbi (Houston, Texas/Dawson), took the first set from the Boilermakers, 25-23. To that point, Purdue had only dropped four sets in 13 matches in 2011.

Unfortunately for the home team its momentum stalled after the premier frame. The Boilermakers rallied to win the next three sets by scores of 25-18, 25-19 and 25-20. Each set was closer than the final score would indicate and in total the match featured 22 tie scores and 13 lead changes.

In addition to Akanbi, who finished with a career-high 13 kills, redshirt freshman Katie Dutchman has risen to the occasion during the early conference slate. The middle blocker also posted a career high with 12 kills against Purdue and hit at a clip of .346 to lead NU. In three Big Ten matches overall, Dutchman has 25 kills and 15 total blocks.

Indiana begins its second weekend of conference play on Friday, Sept. 30 in Champaign, Ill. where they will square off with the country's top-ranked team, Illinois. The Hoosiers are without a win in Big Ten play this season having fallen to No. 18 Michigan and Michigan State last weekend.

Once again, the first serve is set for 7 p.m. Be sure to stick around after the match for an autograph session with the Wildcats.
