Northwestern Team Notes

  • This was the fifth meeting between Northwestern and Army, and the first since Sept. 24, 1988. NU leads the overall series 3-2.
  • NU is 14-2 in its last 16 regular-season contests against nonconference opponents. NU began the day with a seven-game winning streak vs. nonconference opposition.
  • Since 2008, NU has gone 12-6 in true road games. NU's 12 victories in that span--eight of which are against Big Ten opponents--are tied for the sixth-most among all FBS programs.
  • Northwestern has now scored in double figures 49 straight games.
  • Northwestern has an open date next weekend and then begins conference play on Saturday, Oct. 1 at Illinois. Kickoff time has been set for 11 a.m. Television plans will be announced on Monday, Sept. 19.
  • Northwestern Individual Notes

    • True sophomore QB Kain Colter finished with 146 yards of total offense--89 passing and 57 rushing.
    • Colter's 14-yard TD pass to WR Jeremy Ebert in the second quarter was the first touchdown pass of his career. It was Ebert's first TD grab this year. Ebert finished with a team-high six catches for 108 yards and two TDs. He now has 12 career touchdowns.
    • Redshirt freshman QB Trevor Siemian entered the game in the fourth quarter and led the Wildcats on a three-play, 80-yard touchdown drive. All three plays were pass plays, with the final play going 62 yards on Jeremy Ebert's second TD grab of the game. In all, Siemain completed 5-of-7 passes for a career- and team-high 105 passing yards.
    • P Brandon Williams connected on a 65-yard rugby-style punt late in the third quarter--that was the longest punt of his career.
    • RB Mike Trumpy returned to action (after missing the Eastern Illinois game with a head injury) today and finished with 34 rushing yards.
    • LB Bryce McNaul, S Ibraheim Campbell, CB Jeravin Matthews and LB David Nwabuisi all posted double-figure tackle figures in the contest. Each player's total was a career high: McNaul totaled 15 hits, Campbell notched 13, Nwabuisi had 12 and Matthews posted 10.
