EVANSTON, Ill. -- Entering his fifth season as head coach, Arvid Swan has his 2011-12 Northwestern squad ready to kick off the fall tournament season at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic this weekend in Fox Point, Wis. NU is one of four men's teams in the draw and will play one round of singles and one round of doubles each day.

Joining the Wildcats at the Town Club in Fox Point are Wisconsin, Marquette and Ball State. A complete schedule of Northwestern's matches each day can be found at the bottom of this release.

The Wildcats' last trip to the Milwaukee Tennis Classic was a prosperous one with Tobias Reitz earning the title of singles champion (based on a points system) after going 3-0 over the weekend in 2010. Then-freshman Raleigh Smith was the singles runner-up by virtue of also going 3-0.

Smith also teamed with Chris Jackman to finish as runners-up in doubles, a preview of the doubles team that would win 13 matches at the No. 3 spot in the lineup come spring dual season.

Northwestern lost just one player to graduation following the 2011 dual season and is led this year by senior Joshua Graves, ranked 76th in the Campbell's/ITA fall singles poll. A two-year starter at No. 1 singles and doubles, Graves has 50 career singles victories under his belt and was a second-team All-Big Ten honoree in 2011.

At the other end of the spectrum are the three newcomers that Swan has welcomed to the program this year: Nikhil Jayashankar (Saratoga, Calif./Saratoga), Alexandru Pasareanu (Bluffton, S.C./Heritage Academy) and Alberto Zanotti (Valencia, Venezuela/C.I. Carabobo). All three will be looking to push returners Graves, Reitz, Jackman, Smith, Spencer Wolf, Sidarth Balaji and Eric Spector.

Results from each day of the Milwaukee Tennis Classic will be posted on the event website as well as NUsports.com. A live radio broadcast from the courts also will be available throughout the weekend on RadioTennis.com.
