2011 Walter Camp Award Watch List
EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern quarterback Dan Persa is one of 40 college football players named to the watch list for the 2011 Walter Camp Award, presented annually to the nation's top performer.
The senior signal-caller is a candidate for numerous national college football accolades including: the Maxwell Award (top overall player), Davey O'Brien Award (top quarterback), Manning Award (top quarterback) and now the Walter Camp Award. A year ago, Persa led the nation in completion percentage (73.5, a Big Ten single-season record) and ranked ninth in the country with a passing efficiency rating of 159.04.
The watch list will be narrowed to 10 semi-finalists in mid-November. The 2011 Walter Camp Player of the Year recipient, voted on by the 120 NCAA Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors, will be announced live on ESPN SportsCenter on Thursday, December 8. The winner will then receive his trophy at the Foundation's annual national awards banquet on January 14, 2012 at the Yale University Commons in New Haven.
