EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern junior Joshua Graves received his first career All-Big Ten laurel on Thursday when he was named second-team all-conference. Graves spent the entire 2011 dual season playing No. 1 singles and doubles for the Wildcats.

Graves' All-Big Ten nod is the first for a Wildcat since Christian Tempke in 2006.

Graves and doubles partner Spencer Wolf spearheaded a strong NU doubles point all season, going 14-9 at the No. 1 position. After going 4-2 against Big Ten opponents during the fall tournament season, Graves and Wolf won three matches in conference action during the spring. The tandem also picked up a big nonconference win when they knocked off 60th-ranked Tsvetan Mito and Ionut Beleleu of Oklahoma on March 4.

On the singles side, Graves won 10 matches at the No. 1 spot to lead Northwestern to 11 dual victories on the year.

Northwestern senior Andrew McCarthy was recognized as Northwestern's Big Ten Sportsmanship Award recipient.

Big Ten champion Ohio State swept this year's individual awards, with Chase Buchanan winning Player of the Year honors, Blaz Rola taking home Freshman of the Year and Ty Tucker receiving Coach of the Year recognition.
