EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern redshirt freshman Ibraheim Campbell (Philadelphia, Pa./Chestnut Hill Academy) collected multiple national accolades on Monday, being named a first-team Freshman All-American by Yahoo! Sports and a member of the CollegeFootballNews.com All-Freshman Team defensive unit.

Campbell started at safety in 11 of NU's 12 games and finished as the 'Cats' leading tackler for the season with 89 stops, good for 11th-best in the Big Ten. The Philadelphia native notched two interceptions and four pass breakups on the year as well as 2.5 tackles for loss.

Campbell is the only representative from the Big Ten Conference on the first-team defense as named by either Yahoo! Sports or CFN.com and one of two players overall from the conference to earn first-team recognition on offense, defense or special teams.

One of Campbell's biggest performances came in Northwestern's 28-25 upset of then-No. 9 Nebraska when he led the Wildcats with a season-high 13 tackles and added one TFL and a fumble recovery.

Both of Campbell's interceptions came off the arm of Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson on Oct. 8 at Ryan Field.
