EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern senior quarterback Dan Persa (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) will be presented with the National Football Foundation (NFF) Mental Toughness Award, the organization announced Thursday. The NFF is set to honor Persa and Northern Illinois quarterback Chandler Harnish at a ceremony on Feb. 20 at Halas Hall in Lake Forest.

Members of the general public may register to attend the special event at a cost of $150 per person by visiting NFFChicagoAwards.com. NU head coach Pat Fitzgerald will be on hand to introduce Persa along with Huskies head man Dave Doeren.

Persa worked for more than 10 months to recover from a ruptured Achilles tendon and prepare for his senior season. The 2010 first-team All-Big Ten selection was back in fine form in 2011, leading all FBS quarterbacks in completion percentage (74.3) and pacing the Big Ten in passing yards per game (240.3).

The Pennsylvania native has climbed NU's list of all-time QB greats, ranking first in career passing efficiency (157.5), fifth in touchdown passes (34) and eighth in passing yards (4,968).
