Men's Tennis Hosts Wildcat Invitational This Weekend

EVANSTON, Ill. -- For the first and last time this fall Northwestern's men's tennis team will be action at home this weekend as it hosts the 2011 Wildcat Invitational at the Combe Indoor Tennis Center Oct. 21- 23. The Wildcats will be joined in competition by 10 other schools from around the Midwest.
The event will be a chance for several 'Cats who have not competed in the fall to work on their respective games. Senior Eric Spector (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) and a pair of freshman, Nikhil Jayashankar (Saratoga, Calif./Saratoga) and Alberto Zanotti (Valencia Venezuela/C.I. Carabobo) will represent the home team at the event. All three players, all of whom have not played competitive fall tennis since the Milwaukee Classic in mid-September, will play their opening-round matches at approximately 2 p.m. Friday. Spector is in singles flight A, while Jayashankar and Zanotti are in singles flight B and paired up in doubles flight A.
The other programs set to participate in the Wildcat Invitational are: Big Ten rivals Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota, instate foes Illinois State, Northern Illinois and DePaul, other Mid-American Conference opponents Western Michigan and Toledo and Marquette from the Big East.
