Opening Serve
Coming off its most successful preseason since 1998, Northwestern now sets its sights on the 2010 Big Ten Conference schedule, beginning against Indiana on Friday, Sept. 24 and Purdue on Saturday, Sept. 25. Both matches will be held at Welsh-Ryan Arena with a 7 p.m. opening serve.
Scouting the Hoosiers
2010: 12-1, 0-1 Big Ten.
Last Week: W vs. DePaul (3-1), W vs. Miami (Ohio) (3-0), L vs. Purdue (1-3).
Head Coach: Sherry Dunbar (Ball State, 1992). Fourth season at Indiana (61-50, .550); eighth season overall (174-72, .707).

Series Information
Northwestern and Indiana get together for the 58th time Friday evening with the Wildcats holding a slim 29-28 advantage in the all-time series after sweeping the Hoosiers last season. NU has won eight of the last 11 meetings between the two and has taken four of the last five matches at Welsh-Ryan Arena. Saturday marks the 70th meeting between Northwestern and Purdue as the Boilermakers lead the all-time series 44-25. The Wildcats marked their first season sweep of the Boilers since 2004 last year, snapping Purdue's six-match winning streak in the series.
Chans Welcome Newest Member of Wildcat Family
Head coach Keylor Chan and his wife, Maren, welcomed the newest member of the Wildcat family to the world on Thursday, September 23 as Elinor Chan was born at around 7:30 a.m. The baby Wildcat weighed in at eight pounds, 10 ounces and both baby and mom are doing great. Chan is expecting to be on the Wildcat sidelines for both Big Ten matches this weekend.
Northwestern Posts Best Pre-Big Ten Record Since 1998
Northwestern completed its 2010 preseason tournament schedule over the weekend, its most successful since the 1998 season. The Wildcats finished with a 10-1 record, the most for the program since going 10-2 in 1998, and captured three tournament titles (Chicagoland Classic, Ohio Baymont Inn Suites Invitational and Wildcat Classic). During the run, Northwestern knocked off 14th-ranked Tennessee, despite dropping the first two sets to the Lady Vols, and also knocked off Ohio, a team that advanced to the NCAA tournament's second round in 2009, on its home court.
Wildcats Receive Votes in AVCA Coaches Top-25 Poll
For the second-straight week, Northwestern finds itself receiving votes among the AVCA Coaches Top-25 poll, earning 12 votes in the poll released Monday. The Wildcats, coming off another tournament title over the weekend, are one of eight Big Ten schools to be either ranked among the top 25 or receiving votes as the 'Cats find themselves among the poll for the first time since 2005.

On November 6, the `Cats face Wisconsin and following the match, girls in the 8th grade and under are invited to the 3rd annual Camp Out with the 'Cats! At the event, guests will spend the night with the volleyball team, where they can participate in a volleyball clinic, eat pizza with the team, play games and stay up late to watch a movie. Dinner With The 'Cats
Northwestern wants to thank its fans by treating them to Dinner on the 'Cats. Fans that arrive at Welsh-Ryan Arena between 6:00 and 6:30 will receive a voucher for a free hot dog at the concession stand, courtesy of coach Keylor Chan, Vienna Beef and Sodexo. Be early and be loud as the 'Cats make a run towards the NCAA tournament.
