EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern senior linebacker Quentin Davie (St. Louis, Mo./Cardinal Ritter) has been named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Wildcats' defensive effort in a 30-13 win at Rice on Saturday.

Davie recorded a game-high 10 total tackles, including 1.5 for loss and a half sack to pace Northwestern in stops. He also made a pass breakup and returned an interception 11 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter, giving NU a 13-0 lead at the time. The pick was Davie's third in the Wildcats' last two games.

The Wildcats would eventually build a 30-6 advantage before allowing a touchdown with 14 seconds left in the game. The Wildcats held Rice to 86 yards on the ground.

The award is Davie's first-career Big Ten weekly honor, and is Northwestern's first defensive POW nod since Kevin Mims earned the award on Nov. 24, 2008. In addition, Davie earned National Linebacker of the Week honors from the College Football Performance Awards.
