After a much needed week off, Northwestern returns to action Sunday against the Eastern Michigan Eagles. The match is the third of a five-game home stand for NU and comes on the heels of a stretch in which the Wildcats played five games in ten days.

Last Time Out
Caroline Dagley and Emily Langston each scored goals for Northwestern last weekend, as the 'Cats opened their home stand with a 2-1 loss to Kansas and 1-1 draw against Missouri. Langston's 84th minute tally came as part of a late-game rally against the Jayhawks that fell just short. Meanwhile, Dagley drove home an equalizer against the Tigers Sunday that ultimately sent the game to double overtime. Freshman Kate Allen had several good scoring opportunities late, including a shot that just missed the net wide as time expired, sealing the tie between the two sides.

Scouting the Eagles
Eastern Michigan brings a 2-2-1 record into the weekend (the Eagles play Friday night at Valparaiso before coming to Evanston on Sunday). EMU opened its season with a 1-1 tie at Michigan and pair of 1-0 victories over Illinois State and Eastern Illinois. Since that strong start, the Eagles have lost their last two outings, including a 4-0 loss to Michigan State.
Forward Paige Sheridan is Eastern Michigan's top returning scorer in 2010, after totaling 13 points (4g, 5a) in 2009. Sheridan has one assist for EMU so far this season, while three different players have tallied the Eagles' three goals. Goalkeeper Monique Budani is in her fourth season as goalkeeper for EMU - the senior split time in the net in both `08 and `09. Budani enters the weekend with a 1.12 goals-against average.

Series Information
Sunday's match marks the first-ever meeting between Northwestern and Eastern Michigan. The Wildcats are 6-0-0 all-time in non-conference games against opponents from the state of Michigan.

Welcome Back, Students!
Northwestern students return to campus this week, and women's soccer has a pair of exciting games scheduled next weekend to welcome everyone back. The Wildcats will take on a pair of 2009 NCAA Championship teams in Illinois State (5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17) and Notre Dame (4:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19). The games are scheduled in conjunction with a tournament hosted by the Northwestern men's soccer team, meaning Lakeside Field will be a busy place next weekend. Being at home is a good thing for the Wildcats; since Lakeside Field opened in 2007, the Wildcats have enjoyed great success on their home pitch, going 16-10-5 over that stretch.
