EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern returned to the practice field Tuesday morning, conducting its second spring session in the Trienens Indoor Facility. NCAA rules mandate that the first two practices must be conducted without pads. On Thursday morning, the Wildcats will practice with shoulder pads before donning full gear and pads this Saturday.

Throughout the spring, NUsports.com will feature an in-depth "Ten Questions With..." interview with a Northwestern football student-athlete. Tuesday's interview is with redshirt sophomore offensive guard Brian Mulroe (Glenview, Ill./Loyola Academy), who earned his first career start in the 2010 Outback Bowl vs. Auburn.

Mulroe was a highly touted member of NU's 2008 recruiting class, and was one of six Chicagoland recruits as well as one of five offensive linemen in the group. An injury his freshman year carried over into part of his redshirt freshman season, but midway through 2009, Mulroe was cleared to play and he quickly moved into a key backup role at guard before earning his first start on New Year's Day.

PRACTICE NOTES:
• The 'Cats practiced 19 periods again on Tuesday, which included three seven-on-seven periods and five team periods.
• With warmer temperatures predicted for Chicagoland later this week, the Wildcats could be moving their practices outdoors for Thursday and Saturday.
• Northwestern's spring game is scheduled for noon on Saturday, April 24 -- full details for the day will be announced soon by NU's marketing department.
• The Big Ten Network will once again be covering spring practice for all 11 Big Ten schools. BTN will produce five episodes of the Big Ten Tonight: Spring Football Report, between April 14 and 28, and will have full highlights, interviews and analysis of the Wildcats' spring game at 9 p.m. CT on April 24.
