COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The 2010 NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships have been delayed 24 hours due to an illness affecting multiple teams in the field, the NCAA announced Wednesday night (March 24). The scheduled Thursday start has been pushed back to 11 a.m. CT Friday, March 26.

Eighteen student-athletes and one coach from at least three different teams have been treated at the Ohio State University Medical Center and the Ohio State Sports Medicine Center for a possible gastrointestinal illness. All of the individuals are in Columbus to participate in the NCAA Division I Men's Swimming and Diving Championships. At this time, no Northwestern student-athletes or staff have taken ill.

The NCAA, the OSU Medical Center, Ohio State University officials and the local Ohio health department are working on the issue. The championship venue and facilities have been investigated and approved for use.
