Opening statement:
"When have a 13-day layoff and you play well you say, 'Oh that layoff helped.' You don't play so well, you say, 'Oh the layoff killed you, exams.' I think we were somewhere in between. I thought the first half we actually played pretty well, were executing nicely. We weren't getting the shots...well we were getting the shots that we wanted, I thought. And into the hands of the guys that make shots, and they were going down. But the things that bothered me throughout the whole game were just the fast shooting, one and then the interior defense. We have to shore that up because they were just isolating from the top of the key and throwing it down inside and we just didn't handle those guys. But we got the win and we keep going. We've got American (on Thursday) and they have a very, very good big man and they're a very well-coached team. So the next two days we have to get something done. I guess there is some rust there. I don't like to think that, but we were a bit heavy-legged out there. LIU is a nice team, they don't quit, they looked really coachable. Jim (Ferry) is a good guy. I've know him for a long time and I think they are going to do pretty well in the Northeast Conference."
Any concern about the foul trouble in the first half?
"Well this team averages 31 shots per game. They just drive and drive. We said we have some depth this year, and we've got to show it. They guys that came in, Al (Marcotullio), (Mike) Capocci and Davide (Curletti). These guys have to come through and play, there can't be a big drop off. I thought they did OK, most of the guys that came in tonight."
