EVANSTON, Ill. -- On the second day of action at the Wildcat Invitational hosted by Northwestern, NU won three out of four singles matches as sophomore Sidarth Balaji advanced to the tournament's Flight A singles final to be played at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

Senior Andrew McCarthy opened his afternoon with a 6-3, 6-2 defeat of Marquette's Logon Collins while Balaji won his second consecutive three-set match, overcoming Wisconsin's Petr Satral 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (5).

With McCarthy and Balaji scheduled to meet each other on the championship side of the draw, McCarthy moved to the top half of the bracket where he met Iowa's Marc Bruche. McCarthy lost the first set 6-1 but came back to take the second off Burche, 6-2, before falling in the tiebreaker.

In the lower half of the bracket, Balaji squared off with DePaul's Seven Kasper, emerging from a tight first set victorious, 7-5, before taking the second set 6-2.

Balaji will face Bruche in the Flight A final on Sunday inside the Combe Tennis Center.

After falling in his first singles match Saturday, sophomore Chris Jackman picked up a win over Marquette's Jose Manuel Munoz in the consolation bracket, 6-4, 6-1.

Balaji and Chris Jackman wrapped up the doubles portion of the Wildcat Invite against Wisconsin's Petr Satral and Ricardo Martin, falling in a hard-fought tiebreaker match 9-8 (4).
