EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern is set to host its annual fall tournament, the Wildcat Invitational, this Friday through Sunday at the Combe Indoor Tennis Center. NU has entered three players -- sophomore Chris Jackman, senior Andrew McCarthy and sophomore Sidarth Balaji -- into the Flight A singles draw.
In addition, Balaji and Jackman will join together to compete in the lone draw of doubles play. They will open play against Western Michigan's Pablo Olivarez and Casey Cullen at 4 p.m. Friday.
Other schools competing at this year's Invitational include DePaul, Iowa, Marquette, Purdue, Western Michigan and Wisconsin. The action begins at 10 a.m. Friday with one round of singles play in both flights before moving into two rounds of doubles. On Saturday, play opens at 8 a.m. with two successive rounds of singles and concludes with the final round of doubles at approximately 5 p.m.
Sunday will feature the flight A and B singles championships and final consolation matches beginning at 8 a.m.
Northwestern's first-round singles matches will play out as listed below:
Chris Jackman (NU) vs. Ricardo Martin (WIS), Friday, 1 p.m.
Andrew McCarthy (NU) vs. Kazuya Komada (WMU), Friday, 1 p.m.
Sidarth Balaji (NU) vs. Dan Mamalat (MARQ), Friday, 1 p.m.
