NU Tennis Offers "Meet the Team" Clinic This Sunday

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern head women's tennis coach Claire Pollard and head men's tennis coach Arvid Swan are inviting all members of the Northwestern and Chicagoland communities to Combe Tennis Center at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 10, for a Meet the Team clinic with their respective teams. The event is free and open to the general public.
Take part in the festivities and enjoy this chance to play games with and against some of the Big Ten's best players in a friendly atmosphere. The action will take place in Northwestern's expansive Combe Tennis Center, which features six full-sized tennis courts and sits on the shores of Lake Michigan at 2311 Campus Drive in Evanston. The clinic will last until approximately 8:30 p.m.
Under the direction of Pollard, a five-time Big Ten Coach of the Year honoree and 2008 ITA National Coach of the Year, the Northwestern women's tennis team has established itself as a perennial powerhouse. The 'Cats have won a Big Ten-record 11 straight league championships and have finished each of the last two seasons ranked No. 2 in the nation.
On the men's side, Swan steered the Wildcats to a remarkable turnaround and an NCAA tournament appearance during the 2008-09 campaign, guiding them to an 18-9 record and a 6-4 mark in the Big Ten.
