Zeke Speaks: Camp Kenosha - - August 22, 2009

In recognition of the speed and tempo we have been practicing at thus far at camp Coach Fitz had us practice in just helmets, jerseys and shorts on Friday. I think this goes to show that we are buying into one of our team mottos which reads: "As hard as you can, as long as you can". We have put a lot of work in this camp and in order to prepare for the scrimmage on Saturday we toned down the physicality of practice a bit. That didn't mean we didn't go hard and fast but it gave us some time to heal those bumps and bruises we all have.
We came back in the afternoon and had a focused walk-through of all special teams as well as offense and defense to prepare for the scrimmage. Then a little treatment and we were off to dinner. Just like we do the night before every game during the season we had an optional movie and snacks. UW-Parkside just put in a new cinema and let us use it to watch the movie "Taken". It was like renting out an entire movie theater just for ourselves--sweet! We had popcorn, ice cream (my favorite), fruit, and of course all the Gatorade we could handle so we would be hydrated for the scrimmage the next day. The movie was good; a lot of fights and heavy action--just what a bunch of intense football players needed.
After the movie we had some time to hang out and relax before lights out. A popular card game up here is Euchre. There have been some intense games in my dorm room and I would have to say that Mark Ison and Adam Hahn are the pair to beat. Big day Saturday, first scrimmage of camp. Everything we have been working on thus far is going to be brought together. I'm pumped to go out and play some ball. Thanks for reading.
