EVANSTON, Ill. -
Craig Moore, who completed his Northwestern basketball career as the school's all-time leader in 3-point baskets and games played, has signed a contract to play professionally in Holland for DeFriesland Aris Leeuwarden of the first Dutch Division.
Moore, who graduated from NU in June with a degree in communication studies, completed his collegiate career ranked 13th in school history with 1,294 points. He earned third-team All-Big Ten accolades as a senior after averaging 14.3 points per game while helping the Wildcats to a 17-14 overall record and a berth in the National Invitation Tournament. Moore nailed 320 career 3-point baskets to rank fourth in Big Ten history in the category and appeared in a school-record 121 contests. He also ranks fifth at NU with 308 assists and sixth with 141 steals.
"I'm very excited about the opportunity to continue my basketball career," Moore said. "My time at Northwestern made me into a man, both on and off the court. I was able to develop a great relationship with the coaches and everyone associated with the basketball program. I learned a lot from everyone and hope to carry it on to my professional career."
DeFriesland Aris Leeuwarden is one of 10 teams in the Dutch league with the top eight teams in the regular season standings advancing to the postseason. The team begins training camp Aug. 24 and continues up until the start of the season Oct. 3.
"We're all very excited that Craig has the chance to continue doing something he loves," Northwestern head coach Bill Carmody said. "He had a very good career here at Northwestern and developed as well as any player I've coach in a long time. It will be very good competition, facing teams from Holland and other countries and I know that he'll continue to improve."
