Wildcat Fans Win Football Tickets On The Fourth of July

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Despite the rainy weather on the Fourth of July, the Wildcats created memories and gave away tickets to North Shore residents who stopped by Ryan Field after the parade for the inaugural Kick for Tix event over the weekend. Fans had the chance to make a 20- or 30-yard field goal to win two tickets to the Minnesota game or two Big Ten 3-Packs, respectively.
"It was great to see fans of all ages having fun kicking field goals over the holiday weekend," said associate athletic director for sales and marketing Tracie Hitz. "The best field goal of the day was by a mother of two who took off her sandals to nail the 20-yard field goal barefoot on the first try."
The young fans had their chance at the field goals too, but they had more fun meeting one of the Grand Marshal's of the 4th of July Parade, Willie the Wildcat. Willie was on hand to greet fans who were able to put on a Wildcat jersey and helmet to run out of the Wildcats' tunnel onto the field just like the team does on Saturdays.
The next chance for fans to take the field is at Meet the Team Night on Friday, August 28th at 6 p.m. This annual event allows fans to hang out with the Wildcat Football team -- playing catch, kicking field goals, taking pictures and much more. Fans will also get the inside scoop from head coach Pat Fitzgerald who will address the crowd on Walker Terrace during this free event at Ryan Field. All fans whose questions are selected will receive the official , so be sure to include your t-shirt size with your question.
Meet the Team Night will also host the first-ever Wildcat Throwback event sponsored by Pepsi, which means fans who bring any recyclable cans or bottles can purchase tickets to either the September 5 or September 12 games for only $10. As you are gathering your cans this summer, be on the lookout for the limited edition Pepsi cans featuring the Wildcats, which will hit the shelves this week in the Chicagoland area.
"Pepsi has been an incredible supporter of the Wildcats for more than a decade," Hitz said. "We are grateful for additional opportunities to build on this partnership that allows us to pass along ticket discounts to our fans."
For the second consecutive year, Wildcat fans can also show their support by putting up football signs that they can display proudly in their yards all year long. These free yard signs can be picked up by at Meet the Team Night on August 28th.
