Preseason Publications Honor Wildcats

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Several preseason publications have put forth their predictions for the 2009 football season. See below for a sampling of the honors afforded to the Wildcats.
PHIL STEELE
Phil Steele named senior Corey Wootton a preseason fourth-team All-America selection in addition to naming seven Wildcats to its four preseason All-Big Ten teams.
Wootton and Brendan Smith are first defense selections, Sherrick McManis is on the second team, Quentin Davie and Brad Phillips are third-teamers and Vince Browne was placed on the fourth team.
Offensively, Andrew Brewer was picked as a fourth-team honoree.

ATHLON SPORTS
Athlon Sports' 2009 Big Ten College Football magazine includes Northwestern senior Mike Kafka on its cover.
Athlon Sports tabbed five Wildcats with preseason All-Big Ten honors, including defensive end Corey Wootton and safety Brad Phillips on the first team. Cornerback Sherrick McManis was named to the second team, while offensive lineman Al Netter and defensive lineman Vince Browne earned third-team honors.
In addition, linebacker Aaron Nagel was named as one of the Transfers to Watch in 2009.
