EVANSTON, Ill. -- Coming off their first 10-win season since 2004, head coach Stephanie Erickson wanted the Wildcats to use the spring season for individual development and her team did just that.

"Our emphasis each spring is to see substantial development from each of our players," Erickson said. We saw huge strides from our student-athletes this spring. Many players were able to gain crucial game experience and our improvements, in general, were very impressive."

"We have identified areas of focus for the rest of the school year and summer. As we prepare for our fall season and it's safe to say this spring was a huge step for our program. We look forward to reporting in just three months!"

Northwestern played in nine low-scoring affairs against local foes, picking up wins over Northern Illinois an DePaul, and recording ties against Purdue, Loyola (Chicago) and Northern Illinois.

Midfielder Jennifer Baumann led the 'Cats this spring with a pair of goals while Sam Greene and Jessica Palo also recorded tallies. Carolyn Edwards played the bulk of the minutes in goal, but Grace Weitz also saw action between the pipes. The Wildcats ended the spring with the Kicks Against Breast Cancer Tournament on April 26. The 'Cats had the opportunity to take on two teams at Soldier Field -- home of the Chicago Bears. In addition to the soccer, the Wildcats raised $3600 for breast cancer research and treatment.
