Northwestern Adds South Dakota to 2012 Schedule

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern today announced the addition of the University of South Dakota to its 2012 football schedule. The game will be held at Ryan Field.

The Wildcats will be the Coyotes' third Big Ten opponent in a three-year span after USD takes on Minnesota in 2010 and Wisconsin in 2011. The Coyotes are entering their second year of Division I FCS competition in 2009 after finishing 6-5 in 2008 in their first year of transition to FCS status.

USD head football coach Ed Meierkort, who is entering his sixth season with the Coyotes, is a native of Chicago.

Northwestern's future FCS opponents now include Towson in 2009, Illinois State in 2010, Eastern Illinois in 2011 and South Dakota in 2012.
