Hey Cats!!

This past weekend has been full of all kinds of emotions. For those of you who were able to come out and watch, I know the outcome of our games was not what we had all hoped for. But, it is not the outcome of the games that I am trying to focus on because we still have a lot of season ahead of us. With that said, I just wanted to take a few moments to re-cap the weekend and all the activities it involved.

After our first game on Saturday, our long awaited, long talked about Purple Auction was held with all our family, friends and stakeholders in attendance. The auction was a ton of fun, with everyone trying to out-bid everyone else for prizes like Rascal Flatts tickets, trips to Cabo, tons of autographed sports gear, Blackhawks tickets, and even a chance to have dinner with our coaching staff! Other than bidding and winning prizes, the most important part of the evening came when one of our stakeholders, Andrew Linnehan, presented the audience with a video he created commemorating my senior class's journey through the past four years as Northwestern Softball players. The video started with a collage of shots from around our campus while "Wherever You Will Go" by The Calling stated to play. I mean, there was not even a picture of any of us or any of my team mates and I was already balling like a baby. I'm pretty sure it was the song that got me....as soon as it said, "wondering who would take my place", Ashley Lafever (my roommate and fellow senior) and I started to lose it. The video included clips from our World Series appearances in 2006 and 2007 as well as some great highlights from Big Ten Championships. It was a great video and I cannot wait to get my hands on a copy so I can watch it again! Thank you Andrew!!!

Also, to everyone who attended the auction, I would like to thank you for not only supporting the seniors, but for supporting our team and our program. Without the auction, we would not have the opportunities to have the things we have, and go the places we get to go. So again, Thank You!

The following day, the senior events continued with our senior day celebration. We were given our senior gifts and honored on the field before the game. Our gifts are just about the coolest gifts I have ever seen. Our staff put together framed jersey's with action photos and name plaques all in one. It is very cool, and I know that I will be able to look at that years from now and be able to go right back to playing softball for Northwestern University. I am proud to be member of this team, and an athlete at this University. I would not change that for the world. So thank you all for your continued support, especially over this past weekend, because it really means a lot. I would like to especially tell all of my family who made it out this weekend that I LOVE YOU, and I am so happy you were all able to make it out for my last home weekend!!!

A few fun things have happened since the weekend. Kelly and I were able to go to the HAWKS' game yesterday!!!! Since Kelly and I were little, we have gone to Hawks' games together and it may be one of our favorite things to do. We are crazy hockey fans, and especially Hawks fans. We were at the game talking about our favorite players when we were 10 and they included Tony Amonte and Chris Chelios. Mainly because they were cute! The game was a ton of fun and I don't think Kelly and I stopped waving our rally towels the entire evening. Unfortunately, we were no help to the Hawks as the night did not turn out in their favor. I would however like to tell them that they are ridiculously good and Kelly and I have total faith that they will even it up this Thursday. The entire NU Softball team will be watching from home, cheering you on!!!! Go Hawks!

This week we are working for our upcoming games in Madison, Wis. Our weekend schedule is slightly different than normal, we play Friday and Saturday night at 6 pm. The games have also been picked up by the Big Ten Network, so if you cannot make it to Madison, tune in to watch the 'Cats!! Also, this weekend, the NCAA selection show will be held on Sunday night. This is when we figure out where our team will be seeded for the NCAA tournament, and where we will start the tournament. Can't wait!!!

That's all I've got for now, keep livin' the dream! Little guy
