I'm just sitting outside on my front porch enjoying the beautiful spring weather. It turned out to be a nice, sunny day of about 55 degrees which was perfect for another practice outside.
This week has just flown by! I've been staying busy with lots of readings for my two religion classes, which seem to pile up more and more each day. Religion ended up being my fun major here at Northwestern. I never planned on taking many religion courses at NU, let alone majoring in it. However, after living across a Hindu my freshman year and asking several questions about his religion I realized that I don't know anything about other world religions. So my interest was sparked and that whole deal resulted in a second major in religion (my other major is communication).
When people ask me what I major in, and I tell them that I'm a double major in communication studies and religion, they always respond with "so what are you going to do when you graduate? Communicate religion?" Although I don't really find it that humorous, in a way that is what I plan on doing with the rest of my life. Like I mentioned in an earlier blog, I feel a calling into the ministry. I'm not sure what specifics this consists of yet, it could be leading a church or going to another country to do missions. There's a possibility that it is somewhere in between. I know that the Lord will let me know in due time.
Until then, I'm going to stay involved with FCA here on campus until God takes me elsewhere. We will also see what happens with football next year as well. You never know what can happen. If I have a successful year individually, that may open up the door to the Draft. What's interesting though is I never grew up dreaming that I would be in the NFL. I actually grew up dreaming I was going to play pro basketball, but as you probably noticed I received a scholarship for the wrong sport for that dream to happen. I've also thought a lot recently about becoming a coach when I'm done as well. That seed has been planted in my mind from my parents, who have always said that I would make "a great coach."
Whatever I end up doing, I just want to be able to invest in people's lives and help them become who they want to be spiritually, socially and athletically.
