What's Brewin' - Blog Entry #11

I hope you had a great weekend like I did! To start the weekend off right, we decided on having a wide receiver BBQ at (Kevin) Frymire's house on Friday night. Most of the guys were able to make it and we had a blast! Fry was the master chef who manned the grill and made us some outstanding BBQ chicken, burgers and brats. The weather was extremely nice for the dinner and we all were able to sit outside and enjoy the evening. We sat around and talked about the usual: football, girls and school. After we finished eating, we all went to the front lawn to play "bags." I don't want this to sound like I'm bragging on myself, but Zeke (Markshausen) and I ran the show by winning five in a row without being dethroned. The surprise standout was definitely (Martin) Bayless. He had never played before, but it didn't take him but a few tosses to get the hang of it before offering some solid competition. On the opposite side of the spectrum, I have to say that my man D Fields (Demetrius Fields) needs to keep working on his bag tosses. Even though his bags skills aren't the best, he's going to develop into one great receiver by the time he is done at NU. After a great night with the receivers, I went back to the house where I spent time time with EP (Eric Peterman) and his younger brother Aaron. Mark Woodsum joined us later for a pre-game movie where we decided to all watch the movie Shooter with Mark Wahlberg.

Hopefully the weather didn't keep you away from the Spring Game yesterday. Even though a few thunderstorms threatened, Mother Nature's attempt at ruining ideal spring weather failed. It rained a bit before the game, but the rain passed and it turned out to be decent weather for the scrimmage. I was impressed with the offensive production in the game, especially with our "fast start" as Coach Fitz likes to call it. The O-line did an excellent job opening up huge holes all day, along with keeping the QB clean as well. Props to the O-line for a great spring, Lord knows they never get enough credit for what they do. I felt that we were able to execute all phases of the offense and put forth a productive day on the ground and through the air. Overall, I am very satisfied with where we are at as a program. We put ourselves in a great position for this upcoming fall. We just need to make it happen this summer so we can win every day we play next season.

After the game my parents and little bro came over to my house to talk about the game and to make up for lost time. They ended going back to the hotel to freshen up after the game, while Anthony and I watched Transformers. Just like during the season, we headed out to find some place to eat dinner together. Anthony had apparently been craving Olive Garden's bread sticks, so we headed that way. We decided to walk around the mall before dinner, and of course, we had to stop at Pac Sun because that is Anthony's favorite store. I think that everything that kid owns is from that store! Once dinner was over we headed back to the hotel that my parents were staying at and we all watched the movie "Taken," which is an awesome guy movie. Sorry ladies you might not like it very much, but you fellas will definitely enjoy it. We decided that it was time for dessert after the movie, so we headed over to Chili's to satisfy the sugar craving. My parents went back to the hotel, but Anthony and I went back to my place to hang out some more. We had some good time together and I can't wait until my whole family comes up for graduation in June!

I just wanted to let you all know that this will be my last blog, unless you storm Mike Wolf's email demanding more blogs from me. However, I'm not sure that I see that happening so I just wanted to let you all know that it has been a privilege. I also hope you have enjoyed reading my blogs as much as I have enjoyed writing them. Thanks for all your support and I'll see you all in the fall! As always, have a blessed day!

Go Cats!
