EVANSTON, Ill. -- Three Northwestern players signed National Football League free-agent contracts Sunday night, all of them with NFC North Division clubs.

Running back Tyrell Sutton (Akron, Ohio/Archbishop Hoban), the Wildcats' No. 2 all-time leading rusher (3,886 yard), signed a deal with the Green Bay Packers. Sutton totaled 5,138 career all-purpose yards, including a school-best 1,244 receiving yards by a running back.

Wide receiver Eric Peterman (Sherman, Ill./Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin), one of just four players in school history to top the 2,000-yard mark for career receiving yards (2,011), signed a deal with the Chicago Bears.

Defensive tackle John Gill (Los Altos Hills, Calif./Bellarmine Prep), who started 42 career games, signed a free-agent deal with the Detroit Lions. He totaled 160 career tackles, including 23 career TFL's.
