April 21, 2009

The scrimmage on Saturday went well and I can tell that we've continued to improve throughout the spring. Offensively, we aired out the ball quite a bit and scored several passing touchdowns. The superbacks were definitely given some love in the scrimmage. Brendan Mitchell had a great day scoring two touchdowns, one of which was a great catch in the back of the end zone from a scrambling Dan Persa. It was good to have the offense come to life last Saturday, but as I mentioned before, consistency is the key. We can't just be satisfied with having a "good day." We have to find a way to take it to the next level and be a great team. All things said and done, I like where this team is headed and I know we are all ready for the big Spring Game!

While we are on the subject of this weekend's game, the forecast for Saturday is temperatures in the 70's and sunny, which will be perfect for the game and arguably the best weather we've ever had for the spring game. I'm excited to see my family this

weekend as well. Being from Oklahoma, I don't get to see my family a whole lot throughout the year and I must admit that I do miss them quite often. Both my parents will be there (Paul & Jewel) along with my 17-year-old brother Anthony. Every time I see Anthony, it seems that he just keeps getting bigger and bigger. When I left for NU he was just a scrawny little eighth grader, but now he's pushing 6-foot and has some pretty ridiculous Elvis sideburns. My older brother Aaron won't be attending the scrimmage this weekend, because he is actually in the Philippines right now doing some mission work for a couple of weeks. I've been blessed with amazing parents, and two brothers who are my best friends.

Anyway, bust out your sunscreen and get ready for a great game on Saturday! Have a blessed day!
