COLUMBUS, OHIO -- Northwestern (17-7, 5-4) fell by a 7-0 decision to No. 2 Ohio State (26-1, 9-0) Friday afternoon at Stickney Tennis Center, snapping the 'Cats' four-match win streak. The Wildcats will look to rebound Sunday morning and cap off the regular season with a win at Penn State.

OSU grabbed the early lead when the No. 22 team of Justin Kronauge and Steven Moneke defeated Marc Dwyer (Peachtree City, Ga./University of Nebraska - Independent Study H.S.) and Alex Sanborn (Houston, Texas/Kinkaid) by an 8-1 score at No. 1.

At No. 2, the duo of Joshua Graves (Milwaukee, Wis./Nicolet) and Tobias Reitz (Reinbeck, Germany/Sachsenwaldschule Reinbeck) were up a break on Matt Allare and Balazs Novak, but the Buckeye tandem managed to break back and win the match. Andrew McCarthy (Cincinnati, Ohio/Indian Hills) and Alexander Thams (Stockholm, Sweden/Enskilda Gymnasiet) were also up a break in their match against Bryan Koniecko and Shuhei Uzawa at No. 3, but dropped the match in a close 9-7 frame.

Once they got the lead, the Buckeyes did not let it go. Third-ranked Koniecko gave OSU the 2-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-1 defeat of Marc Dwyer at No. 1 singles. The next match off the courts was a 6-2, 6-0 decision by Justin Kronauge over Wildcat Alex Thams at No. 2.

The Buckeyes clinched the dual with a 6-2, 6-1 Uzawa win over Andrew McCarthy at No. 6 singles. The loss is just McCarthy's second of the dual season. Alex Sanborn fell by a 6-2, 6-1 score to OSU's Chase Buchanan at No. 4.

Freshman Josh Graves lost his bid for this 19th win of the dual season with a 6-2, 6-3 loss to Ohio State's senior tri-captain Steven Moneke, who became the OSU's all-time career singles leader with the win. The Buckeyes closed out the dual with a Novak defeat of freshman Spector at No. 5.

The Wildcats continue their road trip, traveling to Penn State for a Sunday dual. Play is scheduled to start at 9 a.m CST Sunday morning. as the 'Cats look to solidify their seeding for the Big Ten tournament and keep making a case for the NCAA tournament.
