Hello Cat Fans!
I left you last time with the excitement of Erin Dyer day approaching. Turns out, the day was a complete success! Our wonderful marketing team did an excellent job, and I truly appreciated it. My friends and family loved the trading cards and I even got to keep a few. :) Our weekend games vs. Indiana turned out to be a double header on Saturday because of the incoming weather. Saturday was beautiful and sunny and brought the `Cats two more wins! I have to brag for about two seconds because I saw one of the coolest stats from our post-game write ups. For those of you who do not know, or did not see it in person, Nicole Pauly and I hit homers on Saturday....that landed on the ROOF!
The homers were pretty cool and the team got to throw huge parties at the plate when they both happened. For me, equally as cool was the stat that emerged from Pauly's and my homers on the day. As stated in the write up, "The home run was Dyer's ninth of the year and the 38th of her career. Incidentally, Pauly's roof job earlier in the day also was her ninth of the year and the 38th of her career." SWEET stat right! Basically what this means is that Pauly is a whole year younger than me and has the exact same home run stats that I do. I'm ok though, Nicole Pauly is one of the best hitters I know! I am just frantically trying to hang with her.
Our game vs. Indiana brought one of my favorite coaches and people of all time back to Sharon J. Drysdale field for the day. Her name is Amanda Rivera. It was crazy to see her in all that red, but she looked GOOD! I respect her tremendously and appreciate having known her and having her in my life. I wish her all the best and I'm sure she'll have the same influence she had on me on all her players at Indiana. Love ya Riv!!!!
One more thing about our games vs. Indiana ... Our second win of the day brought our coaches, Kate & Caryl Drohan, their 300th win at Northwestern. They're both rock stars and hands down the best coaches I've ever had as an athlete. HEYYOO Kate & Caryl!
After our games this weekend, we got to have Sunday off!!! Woo Woo! I love days off. I mean, who doesn't! It was nice to be able to just lay around and do absolutely nothing! Well, I did get to go shopping and hang out with my roommates and some friends and family, which is always a good recharger! So today, I got right back into the grind and got to go paint this morning and then head over to practice. It was a light practice with hitting and a short circuit, just to shock the legs! After that I took an extra long nap and am now feeling completely ready to go for the upcoming week. Tomorrow we practice and get to fly to Minnesota for a Wednesday Big Ten doubleheader. It is supposed to be a pretty nice day, but who am I kidding? SPRING WHERE ARE YOU?!?!
Keep livin' the dream!
