EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Big Ten Conference announced today (April 15) its prime-time football games for the upcoming season, and Northwestern's home contest with Penn State on Saturday, Oct. 31 will be played at 3:30 p.m. CT. The game will be televised by either ESPN or ESPN2.
The Northwestern-Penn State game is one of 14 Big Ten home contests that will appear in the prime-time window on either ABC, ESPN, ESPN2 or the Big Ten Network.
Kickoff times for Northwestern's first two home games (vs. Towson on Sept. 5 and Eastern Michigan on Sept. 12) will be announced early in the summer. All other contests will likely be announced 12 days prior to the game date.
Penn State, which captured a share of the 2008 Big Ten title and played in the Rose Bowl, is making its first visit to Ryan Field since Sept. 24, 2005. The Wildcats and Nittany Lions have not squared off against one another since the 2006 season.
Fans can get an early glimpse of the 2009 Wildcats next Saturday, April 25 when Northwestern holds its annual spring game at noon on Ryan Field (weather permitting).
