April 11, 2009

We just finished our second week of spring ball and the weather is getting progressively nicer, which seems to be brightening everyone's spirits (especially mine) and makes good practice weather. Last night I made dinner and had a few friends over to join me. Afterwards a big group of us went to a Good Friday service at my local church, the Evanston Vineyard. It was an awesome service, and I was glad to be there sharing it with my friends. We mingled around at church for a while after the service, then decided that it was time to eat again. My friend Esther took us all back to her sorority for a little late night snack. That is one negative about being a football player ... paying for groceries. Most of my money goes to grocery shopping and eating out. I realize now how my parents must have felt trying to feed three hungry, growing boys everyday. Props to my mom, who is an excellent cook and willing to share her recipes with me, which has saved me from eating the typical college diet of Ramon Noodles and cereal. I'm no chef, but I do like to cook. I would have to say that I actually like cooking for other people more than I like cooking for myself. One of my favorite meals that I like to cook is salmon, rice, sweet potato and a spinach salad. I could probably eat that everyday and never get tired of it. I'm also a huge fan of breakfast food as well. When I make breakfast, I usually make an omelet with chocolate chip banana pancakes. If you're questioning whether that would actually taste good or not, you just might have to come over to my house and try it for yourself.

On a completely different topic, I'm excited for Easter Sunday. Even though it won't be spent with my family, I have plenty of awesome people to spend Easter with here. I remember when I was younger, we would always take an "Easter family photo" before church. It was also one of the few times a year that my brothers and I would wear suits, which my mother would pick out for me the night before. Even though taking lots of family pics before church in a suit isn't at the top of many 12-year-old's agenda, I'd have to admit that I miss it. I miss lounging around the house, thumbing through the Sunday paper while watching golf with my dad on Sunday's to see if Tiger was going to make another historic comeback. Speaking of that, Tiger definitely has his work cut out for him tomorrow. Despite being 7 strokes back, I don't think that will hinder Mr. Woods from making the Masters exciting tomorrow.

I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy and blessed Easter. Enjoy the time with your family! As to my family who is keeping up with my blog, I miss you all and love you. Happy Easter.

Go Cats!
