Hey Cats!!!
So this has been a pretty long week and it's been nice because it is Thursday night and we are still at home, and I'm lying in my super comfy bed relaxing!!! This weekend we only play on Saturday and Sunday so that means I will not end up sitting on the beautiful Midway floor until tomorrow night! Anyway I'm pretty psyched because we get to play in OKC this weekend at the Hall of Fame Stadium and the outfield conditions are always awesome!
As an outfielder it is always important for me to inspect my surroundings and see what kind of grass I will be playing on. Last weekend we played in a flooded outfield where I had water up to my ankles. It was a very weird experience, but we made it out ok and even threw some people out!!! I really hope my spikes have finally dried out and they are not too smelly...
For those of you who do not know the ins and outs of our team, we have a habit of naming our gloves and bats! Every year as an outfield we pick a group that we can all represent and then name our gloves after the members. Last year we were the power rangers and this year we are the Batman Villains. Cat Woman is my glove, she is pretty sweet. Sometimes she messes up real bad, but the Riddler (Ashley Lafever's glove) checks her in line!!! I know it sounds ridiculous to personify your equipment, but it is fun and a way for everyone to show how creative and funny they can be. As for my bat name, I decided to name it Therese. Usually I happen to have inappropriate names, but this time I named my Phoenix after my mom. I guess that is a little different, but my mom is super tough and kicks butt so what is better than that? Erin's bat name is Grandma...hahaha loser...jk she named it that because she is so old...or is her bat old? I don't know, but my bat is way better!
So now that you know all about my equipment and their personalities, lets talk about Tuesday night. Did anyone watch the Bachelor? [Editor's Note: No, I didn't]. Well we did and we are mad!!! Mad is the understatement of the century by the way. I am actually thinking of writing a strongly worded letter to ABC and Jason for being so stupid and hurting Melissa on national television. For the fathers reading you will probably just disregard this, but this was discussed at least 20 times at practice this week so I thought you should know that as a team we will be boycotting the Bachelor for the rest of our lives. P.S. Jason...make up your mind and stop being such a hypocrite about your love life!!!!
Ok...now that I have that off my chest I want to send a huge shout out to our coaches and Mr. Haug. Every year for Emily Haug's birthday he gives Kate money to buy pizzas for the team to celebrate. Today however they decided to surprise us with an ice cream sundae party instead!!!!! Needless to say it was the best practice of my life and a fantastic idea on their behalf. Chocolate ice cream, whip cream, fudge, caramel, sprinkles and Reeses....priceless! Ice cream may be my favorite thing in the world so I was a happy camper...so thanks Mr. Haug!!!! YOU ROCK!!!!!
All in all this week has been pretty decent so far. Tuesday we practiced as usual, however on Wednesday we practiced at 7 a.m. It was very early for those of us who enjoy sleeping in, but we prevailed and practiced pretty well! We are ready and very excited to play Tennessee and Oklahoma this weekend so tune in to Gametracker everyone!!! Hopefully Therese and Grandma will hit some bombs and put on a show!!! I mean I'll take a single...but I know everyone likes to see that ball fly over the fence. You need some kind of excitement watching Gametracker, right?
Alright well stay cool `Cat fans!
Live the Dream
Kelly
