Lauren Delaney Named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Junior Lauren Delaney (Jefferson City, Mo./Helias) has been named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week after picking up three victories last week, including a pair against conference foe Penn State.
Delaney began the week with an 11-strikeout performance in a non-conference win at Maryland. She then fanned eight Nittany Lions and gave up just one earned run in a 5-3 triumph Saturday. Delaney saved her best for last, firing a two-hit shutout Sunday, the 27th shutout of her career.
The honor is the first of the season for Delaney and the sixth of her career. She is the fourth different Wildcat to earn a conference weekly accolade this year.
Northwestern returns to action at 2 p.m. CT Wednesday in a doubleheader against Michigan State at Sharon J. Drysdale Field.
