Yo Yo Yo `Cats!!!

As Kelly told you, yesterday we were able to tour our great capital, Washington D.C.!! Everytime Kelly and I have a chance to go somewhere new, we take complete advantage of the situation and take approximately one thousand pictures to commemorate those moments. Last year for Spring Break, the team was in Hawaii and we were able to visit Pearl Harbor. It was meaningful and something I think all Americans need to see in their lifetime.

This year, to be able to tour the capital was another meaningful visit. So, yesterday morning, the team woke up bright and early. We were all equipped with maps and plans of all the museums and monuments we wanted to see. We got a quick bite to eat for breakfast and were off to D.C. We then received a driving tour from our bus driver who is currently practicing to be a certified tour guide here. I think he was really excited because he was able to practice on us before he takes his test very soon. I was thoroughly impressed with all his knowledge and learned a ton about so many of the buildings and monuments we saw. We were dropped off right in front of the capital building and from there broke up into groups to go to whichever museums were of most interest to us. Kelly and I were in a group with a bunch of the girls and we were able to see the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum, the Botanic Gardens, the Smithsonian American History Museum, and the National Holocaust Museum.

Kelly and I are both big history buffs, so the History Museum was very cool. We saw the original American Flag that inspired the Star Spangled Banner and it was ENORMOUS! There was an entire exhibit dedicated to our country's wars as well as our country's presidents. We also got to see Dorothy's real ruby slippers, gloves and a helmet from one of the players who played on the 1980 Olympic gold medalists hockey team (P.S. our team looves the movie Miracle, or maybe it's just Kelly and I ....haha), and a giant bird eating spider that was terrifying for my friends Nicole Pauly and Michelle Batts who are equally afraid of spiders as I am of air planes! The most memorable museum for me was the National Holocaust Museum. It was extremely powerful and moving. I think this museum, like Pearl Harbor, is a place that every American needs to see. After touring all the Museums that D.C. had to offer, the whole team met back up at the Washington Monument and from there visited the World War II Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, the Vietnam War memorial and the Korean War Memorial. Overall, the entire day made me feel extremely thankful for all the people who have served our country and continue to serve our country, especially in times of war. The team is planning on returning to the capital Friday morning when we have some more free time in order to see whatever we missed out on.

On our way back from the capital we got to come back to our hotel for about 15 minutes and then got right back on the bus in order to go to the Maryland vs. Utah Women's Basketball NCAA tourney second round match-up. We all got to hang out and be spectators of a really good basketball game for the night.

Today, we were able to sleep in pretty late, which Kelly and I really appreciated because our tourist day was extremely long and tiring. We woke up and went to our pregame meal. We played our one and only game of the day vs. Maryland. The game started out pretty slow for us, and soon we were tied 2-2 going into the 7th inning. This is pretty much when we decided that we had enough! We pushed across five runs to put our team up and sitting comfortable going into the bottom of the inning. We pulled out the win and are feeling good about it this evening. We play a doubleheader vs. Georgetown tomorrow at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. eastern time. Watch that Gametracker!!!

Also, I would like to tell my Aunt Gina that I had to sit by myself on the plane ride here!!!! I was a champion on the lift off because I did look out that window!! There were a few shaky moments, but the window did help...thanks for that!

Until next time, Little guy
