Hey `Cat fans!!!

So yesterday we swept Michigan for the first time since 2000 and now we are beginning to enjoy our spring break in Maryland. Over the next week we will play Maryland, Georgetown and Penn State, so make sure to tune in to Gametracker!!!

First of all, let's talk about this weekend. It was awesome to play at home and have all of our fans there! The parents and tailgaters did not disappoint, and I just want to send a shout out to Maggie Batts and her EXCELLENT shish kabobs! Man they were great! Ok well I know you don't read this to hear about how much I love food, so let's get to the good part!!!

On Saturday we beat Michigan 6-5 in the last inning. RT (Robin Thompson) started the inning off with a double, Tammy was intentionally walked, and then Monka hit a squirrelly line drive that allowed RT to score with her superman dive into home!!! I definitely pulled a spin move and then proceeded to jump up and down all the way to home plate. It was great to push that run in the bottom of the 7th and I was pumped up to start the Big Ten season with a win.

Sunday our goal was to come out and sweep Michigan. Tammy and Monka hit back-to-back jacks in the fourth inning, and from there on out we played some excellent defense to win it 2-1. For as long as I can remember the Championship has been determined by about a half a game, so sweeping Michigan was a great start for us!!!

Last night we were fortunate enough to have a friend tape the games for us, so naturally most of the girls sat around on the couch and watched the games all over again. We are such dorks, but I'll admit it was fun to laugh at ourselves and rewind the DVD over and over again when we made sweet plays!

The morning came way too fast and I am still tired from this weekend! We left the stadium at 6:30 this morning and avoided most of the traffic to get the Midway by about 7:30. At that moment Erin realized she left her bat bag in the locker room, and Liz, who works in the equipment room, drove the bag all the way down to Midway just in time for take-off!!! I felt pretty awful because Erin was a little preoccupied helping me with my broken bag this morning and probably did not even think about her bag, so my bad everyone!!!! Anyway...Liz if you read this...You are remarkable and you must be a very good driver to get through traffic that fast!

So, after we landed we drove to the University of Maryland where we practiced on their field for about two hours. Defense was pretty standard, but hitting was much more entertaining today. The field actually backs up to a two-lane highway and it was proposed that the first person to hit a car would win 20 dollars. Now, no one won any money because I really don't think we can make deals like that, but we did hit some cars. Monka was the first to make the impossible possible when she bounced a homerun off the pavement into the side of a moving car. Next up was Nicole Pauly; after Nicole had hit about 5 home runs over without hitting a car we quickly saw two buses approaching. One after another, we began chanting BUS! BUS! BUS! and Pauly answered our call with a bomb that hit the top of the bus!!! At that moment I threw my glove in the air while the whole team was cheering. It was a 1-in-a-million chance that she would hit that bus, and I couldn't believe it happened. We were like a bunch of kindergarteners rolling around the outfield laughing and giggling about what just happened!!! It was the most outrageous hitting practice of my career and I wish more than anything you all could have been there to see our reactions!!! At the same time, I realize this was a very childish game, and next time we want to see how far we can hit the ball we will just stick to crushing the ball off McGaw Hall!!!!

Tomorrow we tour the capitol and I am very excited to see everything D.C. has to offer me! Erin and I will be videotaping and taking pictures of everything like the good little tourist we are!!! Stay tuned this week for multiple blogs...we do not have any homework to do so hopefully we can give you multiple updates about as we journey through Spring Break 2009!!!

Thanks for a great weekend `Cat fans!!!!
