EVANSTON, Ill. -- Junior Kelly Dyer (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport) has been named the Big Ten Player of the Week after batting .800 and slugging 1.600 in Northwestern's sweep of No. 8 Michigan over the weekend.

Dyer began the weekend with a single and a two-out, two-strike grand slam in Northwestern's 6-5 win Saturday before going a perfect 2-for-2 with a single and a double in Sunday's game. Over the Wildcats' last four games -- all against opponents ranked in the top-8 in the nation -- Dyer is batting .636 (7-for-11).

The player of the week award is the first of Dyer's career and the third for the Wildcats this season. Tammy Williams (Roscoe, Mo./Osceola) and Adrienne Monka (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Rancho Cucamonga) previously won the Big Ten's weekly honor this season.
