WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Northwestern (10-2) dropped just its second dual of the season to William & Mary (12-7) Friday evening at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center. Similar to their heartbreaker at Notre Dame last week, it came down another third set of the final match where Tobias Reitz (Reinbeck, Germany/Sachsenwaldschule Reinbeck) fell to Marwan Ramadan at No. 2.

The Wildcats are 1-2 in away duals this season and look to pull to .500 as they continue their road trip by facing Old Dominion Sunday morning.

Northwestern started the dual off in customary fashion with a win in the doubles point. Reitz and senior Marc Dwyer (Peachtree City, Ga./University of Nebraska - Independent Study H.S.) were defeated by Keziel Juneau and Sebastien Vidal at No. 1, 8-5.

The `Cats stormed back with wins at the other two positions. Alex Sanborn (Houston, Texas/Kinkaid) and Josh Graves (Milwaukee, Wis./Nicolet) topped Dominic Pagon and Ilja Orre at No. 2, 8-5, for their 11th win of the season. Andrew McCarthy (Cincinnati, Ohio/Indian Hills) and Alexander Thams (Stockholm, Sweden/Enskilda Gymnasiet) also posted a victory over Ramadan and Varun Pandit, 8-2, at No. 3.

In singles, the Wildcats jumped to an early lead with a victory at No. 6 by McCarthy over the Tribe's Richard Wardell, 6-3, 6-2. W&M quickly evened the score with a Pagon win over Thams at No. 3, 7-6, 6-2.

The Tribe built on their lead with wins at No. 1 and No. 4. At No 1, Juneau ended Dwyer's five-match win streak with a 6-3, 6-4 decision. They jumped to the lead, 3-2, with a 6-4, 6-4 Vidal victory over Sanborn at No. 4.

The `Cats evened it up with a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 5 by freshman Graves over fellow freshman Orre. Graves extends his win streak to double digits and has not dropped a match since November.

The dual came down to No. 2, where Reitz narrowly dropped a three-setter to experienced senior Marwan Ramadan. It was a competitive match, but Ramadan managed to pull out the victory.

The Wildcats look to rebound against Old Dominion Sunday morning. Play at Folks-Stevens Tennis Center is set to begin at 9 a.m. CST.
