I Am Marshall: Entry #4

Sorry for the delay everyone pining for an entry, but you can't rush an artist! Did Picasso rush the Sistine chapel? (Think about it).
Since our last adventures in Evanston we've done oodles of things here in Tampa. Before all of that though we had a little break in which we were able to go home and enjoy Christmas with our families. Sadly I was barred from writing blog entries while I was back in Miami and that means you guys don't get to hear about my escapades I had while wearing my purple speedo on South Beach.
Besides the fact that Tampa has added the internet to their list of endangered species ... (Editor's Note: Technology issues delayed this entry. More will appear belatedly for a tape-delay look at bowl week) ... Our trip has been really fun. When I arrived on Saturday it was kind of awkward because I was one of the first people to arrive at the hotel because the team's charter flight out of Chicago was delayed for several hours. So as I was sitting around in my room waiting for my roommate to come so we could play parcheze, I remembered that my roommate was "Justan Lunch Box Vaughn" and he wasn't flying with the team either. Right as I was texting him to ask him where he was he pranced in to our room. We instantly rushed to greet each other and spend the rest of our afternoon speculating if we will have practice that day or not. We soon figured out that we would not have practice thanks to the incessant text messages we receive about every two minutes from Director of Operations Nolan "Elroy Jetson" Jones.
A couple of hours passed by and the team finally arrived at the hotel. After they arrived we headed off to our first taste of our scheduled events and our first encounter with our sworn enemies. This is the first of about 30 banquets we're going to attend in the next couple of days. The banquet was nice but uneventful with the main highlight being the all-you-can-eat buffet we were given and a couple more bowl gifts. After the banquet we headed back to hotel for a team meeting in which we find out that we have been provided a shuttle service that will take us to Channelside and Ybor City. Of course, as soon as I find this information out I immediately head out on one of these shuttles to explore Tampa. The goon squad I head out with include Brendan "Duckhunter" Smith, Brian "Motorboat" Peters, Davon "Spaceman" Custis, Corey "Pumpkin Patch" Wootton, David "Toodles" Arnold, Jordan "Gumdrops" Mabin, and Scott "Butterbread" Concannon. I'm pretty sure what we did that night is illegal in at least 19 states, nah I'm just kidding. Yet I know I can't go on any further with this part of the story because of the man, they're always trying to censor me. I'm just going to let you guys know that we enjoy ourselves and live life according to our motto, Editor: Motto Redacted.
On Sunday we headed to practice at Jesuit High here in Tampa. The only reason this place is worth mentioning is because of our beloved Chris "Big Ten talker of words guy" Martin and John "Kitten Mittens" Plasencia. Well there is a little bit of a rivalry between John and I because our high schools played each other for a little while. I decided to escalate things a little bit by calling John out before practice and stomping on their mid-field emblem. I thought it was pretty funny. Practice went very well and so did the rest of the day. I didn't have quite the night on the town as I did before because I was so tuckered out from practice. Instead I spent the remainder of the night hanging out with my mom and niece.
Hate to leave everyone hanging but don't worry the rest of the updates from Tampa are coming soon.
GO Cats!
