Howdy there Wildcat nation, and welcome to another rendezvous with my mind. In our last adventure through wonderland we explored a potpourri of topics and now I'm giving you your next sniff. Your first whiff and the best news of the month is Coach Long has been released from the hospital and is now recovering at home. I just want to say thanks to everyone that kept him and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Now onto the next installment of I am Marshall. As all of you know coming to Northwestern is not just about playing football and becoming a leisure studies major, it would be nice but that's not reality. I'm a Learning and Organizational change (LOC) major, and if you don't know what that means then I'm probably going to be your boss one day. Not really, but I've always wanted to say that. The Northwestern explanation is that LOC explores how organizations and the individuals within them use knowledge and learning to create and respond to change within their environments. LOC is tailored for consulting work but it can really be applied to any field. Now what does that have to do with the Outback Bowl? Absolutely nothing, school's out and the only thing our entire team has on their minds is getting ready for the game. I just had to put that little piece in there to please the SIDs and my mom. (Hi Mom!)
Well I thought it was my job to keep the outside world updated on what's going on with our team with my Outback Bowl blog but I was obviously wrong. Somebody at NUSports stole my thunder and already reported on Governor Pat Quinn talking to us after practice and our lunch to promote the Outback Bowl at a similarly named restaurant. The man is trying to censor me! For my voice to be heard I am demanding a comment box for my loyal followers to voice their opinions and help the movement. Ok, so I'm not really demanding anything...
Anyway, since all of the major news for me to report back to everyone has already been said I'm just going to ramble on for a little bit longer. The definite highlight of the weekend came from our usual pre-practice routine on both days. On Friday, Coach Fitz brought up John Henry "Jingleheimer Schmidt" Pace to start practice off right. The only way I can describe his performance is as the exact opposite of John Travolta in Grease. He was rewarded no points from Coach Fitz, he was not a fan favorite, and we are all a little dumber for watching him dance. On Saturday we wanted to come out with a bang so Corey aka Pumpkin Patch, Quentin "Wiggles" Davie, and I came up with the great idea to play Sugarhill Gang -- Jump On It and do our own version of the dance. When the big moment came Coach Fitz decided to call Coach Hank to try and get him to dance. Once again he declined to unleash the dance moves that have been caged since The Twist came out. So as a team we had to take matters into our own hands and everyone did the Jump On It dance. Well we're about to reach the end of the road in Evanston. The `Cats are about to fly south for the winter and I'm hoping everyone can join us at the Outback Bowl and bring the purple haze to Tampa.
