EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern held its Outback Bowl media day Friday and also had a special guest at practice. Illinois Governor Pat Quinn addressed the team following today's workout.
Quinn gave a passionate speech, telling the team that Illinois is proud of the Wildcats as its representative on the biggest stage this season. He spoke of Northwestern's track record of success and how he was proud of NU's ability to win on the field while maintaining a 92 percent Graduation Success Rate (GSR) in the most recent data. He also thanked head coach Pat Fitzgerald for his service on an ethics committee earlier this year.
A Chicago Catholic League alumnus, Quinn gave a special shoutout to the eight CCL alumni on the team before requesting to meet St. Rita graduate Mike Kafka. Quinn also met with Zeke Markshausen, Mark Woodsum and Corey Wootton after the practice. Check out a photo gallery of the session at the top of this page.
