EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Four Wildcat doubles teams completed their run Friday at the Big Ten Indoors hosted by Michigan State. The freshman tandem of Spencer Wolf (Coral Springs, Fla/Laurel Springs) and Sidarth Balaji (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) advanced through the Flight B doubles draw to reach the final, where they fell to Penn State's Guillaume St. Maurice and Taylor Cohen, 8-6.

Wolf and Balaji started the morning with an 8-4 win over Golden Gophers Brendon Ruddock and Eddie Svenda. They continued their run with victories over pairs from Michigan and Iowa before falling to the Nittany Lion duo in the final.

Also in Flight B, Wildcat freshmen Mark Schanerman (North Miami Beach, Fla./Dr. Michael M. Krop HS) and Chris Jackman (Key Biscayne, Fla./Gulliver Prep) won their first round match, 8-4, over Will Davis and Denis Bogatov of host MSU after starting in a 4-1 hole. They lost in the second round to eventual champions St. Maurice and Cohen before winning two consolation matches to finish with a 3-1 record.

In Flight A doubles, Andrew McCarthy (Cincinnati, Ohio/Indian Hill) and Eric Spector (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) advanced to the second round with an 8-6 win over Purdue's P.J. Rose and Paul Foley. In the second round, eventual finalists Ryan Gormley and Warren Hardie of PSU defeated the Wildcat tandem, 8-3.

Alex Sanborn (Houston, Texas/Kinkaid) and Tobias Reitz (Reinbeck, Germany/Sachsenwaldschule Reinbeck) failed to win a match in Friday's action, falling to 0-3 for the tournament.

In consolation action, head coach Arvid Swan switched up his pairings as Sanborn played with Spector and McCarthy teamed with Reitz for a 9-8(6) win over Iowa's Marc Bruche and Reinoud Haal.

Singles play starts Saturday morning at 8 a.m. EST. Eight 'Cats will vie for the title in the 64-player main draw. There will also be a consolation draw.
